Getting Started

Who is eligible to participate?

LifeStyles is designed for Carleton College employees, as well as employees' spouses, domestic partners, and dependents. Participation is also open to students, Carleton retirees and alumni.

What will it cost me?

The Recreation Center is no longer able to offer its personal training service free. However, the College is willing to subsidize your sessions.

The Recreation Center will issue a $60 LifeStyles coupon to all employees who complete a confidential Health Risk Assessment online and submit it. The coupon can then be redeemed when you make an appointment for your initial consultation and personal training session. Future appointments with a trainer will cost the employee $10 per session. This reduced session rate (normally $30) is made possible through the support of the College.

Please note: For the fee based services, we must receive your payment BEFORE we are able to schedule your appointments.

To see a complete list of all fees, download the 2007-2008 LifeStyles brochure on our homepage.

How do I participate?

Your participation begins when you fill out the Health Risk Assessment (HRA), a series of online questions about your health history, nutrition, physical activity and more. You can fill it out online or print and fill out the PDF version. The HRA is voluntary and confidential. If you choose not to fill out the HRA, you may still participate, but will not receive your $60 LifeSTyles coupon that enables you to have your first two sessions free.

Upon completing the HRA you will receive a $60 LifeStyles Dollar coupon, redeemable when you submit a medical release (available on the home page of this web site) from your doctor to the rec center. Our LifeStyles coordinator will contact you to schedule your initial consultation and complimentary personal training session. If your spouse or domestic partner is also covered by Carleton College Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health insurance then he or she can earn a $60 LifeStyles Dollar coupon by filling out the HRA and medical release form.
