The other night I was leaving Exit 69 rehearsal and I noticed that the Tunnels were open. For those of you who don't know, Carleton had a system of tunnels that connect some buildings to others so you don't have to walk outside in the cold. Unfortunately, they were a bit of a security hazard, so they closed them up and now they use them for storage spaces and for "Haunted Tunnel Walks" on Halloween. However, every once in a while I get lucky enough to see the main door open and I get to see the hallway that leads to the Tunnels (yes, I realize that's not that exciting). It's kind of like a little Carleton museum where (pardon the cliche) time sort of stands still. Anyways, the other night not only was the hallway door open, the door to the Tunnels themselves was propped open. So I snuck in and took a couple of pictures (then I got too scared and left).

Speaking of "time at Carleton", I've had lots of discussions with some of my other senior friends about our past 3 weeks so far. For most of us, our weeks are packed even more tightly than before, but I feel like time is moving really slowly so far this term. Which is good. There's the joke that at Carleton time moves in really strange ways. On the one hand, so much can happen in only 10 weeks here, but the term still feels like it's over in the blink of an eye. Not that I've ever wanted Carleton terms to end, but now that it's senior year, I especially wanted them to go slowly. Every time the weekend rolls around I end up thinking, "only 26 more weeks at Carleton..."
Along with my foray into the Tunnels, this was a big weekend. On Saturday, Carleton beat our neighbors, St. Olaf, at their own homecoming football game. My friend was telling me about this eagle statue in town that points in the direction of either St. Olaf or Carleton, depending on which school won the last game, and for the first time in 12 years the eagle is now pointing at Carleton. The whole football team left the game and marched down to the center of town to rotate the eagle.
I was planning on getting some job applications done Saturday day, but when I got to campus I ended up going to the Music Hall and borrowed a guitar and ended up playing on the Bald Spot for almost 3 hours. Productive use of my time...On Saturday Night, my roommate and some of our friends went to a Super Smash Bros. tournament while I hosted Acoustic Night (so maybe it was good that I played guitar for so long). I didn't bring my camera to the show, but there was a girl taking pictures and I'm trying to get them from her, so hopefully I can put some pictures up from that later in the week.
