As of late, I’ve really begun to appreciate The Cave. Despite living in such close proximity to it, before this term, I never felt the need to venture inside. It was something I appreciated in theory but, decidedly, not in actuality.
Once again, I’ve learned to not judge prematurely.
Two weeks ago, love thawed my cold, frostbitten heart*. Out of sheer boredom, I attended a Mal Blum concert, and the moment I saw her on stage, surrounded by broken-stringed guitars, and singing with such sincerity, I was endeared.
Yesterday, Andrea Gibson - a brilliant spoken-word artist and activist - performed. I cannot begin to explain in words how incredibly touched I was by her recitations. She's stunningly talented; I will forever be in awe of her.
All in all, I'm glad I gave The Cave a shot.
*Winter term was rough.
