In order to help out with this growing need, I have been working over breaks. Previously I worked for La Madeleine, a very Americanized French restaurant. This winter break they didn't have hours for me, so I now work for Barnes and Noble. It's kind of my dream company, really. It's made up of book and music/movie lovers. If you know anything about me, you know I intake about 18 hours a day of music, movies, tv, and news/books. So Barnes and Noble was a good choice, especially since I get some pretty sweet discounts, especially during Employee Appreciation Week, which was this month. Christmas shopping, here I come! I would say what I'm buying and such, but my mom reads these blogs, and one of the things I'm buying is for her.
However, I have picked out a few goodies for myself, which include Bright Eyes' Letting off the Happiness, Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins, and Silent Alarm by Bloc Party. I've wanted these for a while, so I'm pretty excited to get them for cheap. This, however, will probably be all I get to buy for myself for a while (except that morning 50% off caffeine to keep me functional at work before 11 am).
I mean, retail is not exactly my ultimate goal in life, but I'm happy doing this for now - I get to talk about, find, sell, and recommend music all day. Not bad.
ETA - I ended up also buying Heart and Soul by Joy Division and This Warm December - Jack Johnson's compilation Christmas album with contributions by G. Love, Mason Jennings, and some others.

Your musical propensities strum quite a nice chord with me! Death Cab has been my favorite band since, God, middle-school days. Sufjan Stevens tops the list also, along with Bright Eyes and Jack Johnson. Have you treated yourself to some Whitley, Seabear, or Ash Reiter?
Hope you're enjoying your winter break; keep posting, please! I verily enjoy reading these. <3
Bummer. I was hoping to find out what you got me. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.
