Spaceship Ghosts

November 7, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Dearest readers,

I'm really pretty busy this weekend, lots of stuff to do!  But I wanted to do a quick blog post.  It ended up being not so quick, partially because spaceships are complicated, not simple, they have lots of stuff on them and stuff, and partly because I started reading me some Hyperbole and a Half (check out the one about the alot and the fishing excursion).  The girl who makes it does these comics with these scruffy paint drawings about her insane life and childhood.  Man... I wish I remembered more stories like those.  But, yeah you should read it.  SO FUNNY.

Oh yeah, I need to write this post though.  Not just piggyback on other people's hilarious blogs, hoping that you'll like mine because I showed them to you.

This is a subject that is very dear to my heart.  I've been meaning to post about it for a while.  Here's the deal: have you ever looked up in the sky and said, "Wow those clouds are beautiful!"?  Have you ever wondered where they come from, saying, "Wow, where do those clouds come from?" in a wondering tone?  Well, here's my theory:

Clouds are really the ghosts of Spaceships that were killed in the far reaches of the universe.  From the moment they are christened, it is every spaceships dream to travel across the universe, to visit distant lands, and to float into the atmospheres of countless planets.  But alas, few civilizations have reached the level of technological advancement it requires to fulfill all of those spaceships' dreams.  Spaceships cannot travel fast enough or last long enough to reach all of those distant stars.  But when their jet streams fade away or their hulls are riddled with laser scars, they can retire to wander the universe as clouds.  No longer responsible for precious cargo or living passengers, they are free to travel, faster and freer than ever before, to the far reaches of the universe.

Some of them come to earth.

Search your feelings... you know it to be true.

...

Wow, yeah, it's true, though, really.  But man, I need to go cook dinner... AHHH SO MUCH TO DO.

Peace,

Jon

P.S. it makes me feel good that Allie (of Hyperbole and a Half) takes 10-15 hrs to do blog posts.  Which is actually pretty good because some of those are really long.  But yeah, blogging takes more time than it seems!  So does making comics!  When you make comics, it takes like 10 hours to draw something that someone will read in 10 seconds.  I'm not even joking, that's how it works.  In other words... APPRECIATE MEEEEE!!!!
