Good News: It’s the winter
Bad News: ….It’s the winter
I must say that Minnesota winter gets kind of bad reputation. I actually kind of enjoy it at times. Being from the south, seeing actual snow, not just ice flakes, on the ground still amazes me. There are many advantages of being in MN during the winter. For starters, snow ball fights! And of course the chance to play President Poskanzer in broomball .
Also each year, Carleton installs two ice rinks on the ball spot for student to skate or play broomball. Check out the photo below. Luckily, the weather so far has been pretty atypical, in a good way. I haven’t had to pull out my big coat yet, which is amazing considering its mid-November.
I promised myself that I would go sledding this year. I’ll take video and post it next term when I do.
If you are a prospective student, good luck with applications and don’t let the winter deter you. It’s not as bad as it looks.

Just to clarify...the photo above is from last winter. There's no snow on the ground yet and no ice in the rinks. :)
