    Midwinter Ball, one of Carleton's biggest and best events of the year, has come and gone again for the thirty-first time. Started in 1981 as a Viennese Ball, this year's dance featured swing and ballroom music, salsa, and modern tunes from student DJs. A festive night amidst mid-terms and freezing temperatures, the Ball helps to keep everyone sane and happy for the rest of winter.

    Every winter, Carleton students come together to raise money for the Alumni Annual Fund and thank volunteers and donors for their contributions over the past year. For a week of evenings, they call alumni, write thank-you postcards, enjoy sustenance from local restaurants, rack up points to earn prizes, and have a great time giving back to Carleton!

    A busload of Carleton students traveled to downtown Minneapolis in late January for a midweek off-campus adventure at the third annual Carleton Skating Night at the Depot. Organized by a local Carleton alum, it's a night for students and alumni to enjoy open skating, free informal lessons, and an exhibition by local skating students.
