On the last Saturday of June five out of the six Fellows traveled up to the Cities for the Minneapolis Pride Parade. The trip was sponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Center, so we went with a lot of other Carls, as well as some people from Macalester! As part of the trip we got t-shirts that were supposed to be in rainbow colors, but three of us ended up getting orange...see the below pictures for evidence. At least we matched!
Marching in the parade itself was quite an experience, and so much fun. It was my first time attending Pride, nevermind marching in it. I wasn’t quite prepared for the number of people lining the sidewalks, cheering, waving, and smiling at us. It was really fantastic being surrounded by so much good will and celebration.I think the best part of the parade, though, was the confetti cannon that one of the groups ahead of us in the parade had. My goal for next year is to get a glitter cannon.
