Carleton College

The countdown begins...

August 5, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Thing you should know about Carleton #31: we are on a trimester academic calendar.  We've already discussed the nitty gritty details of the trimester system, and frankly it's not the kind of difference that's going to drastically change your college experience... but this is one of the times of year that it's very obvious that our academic calendar is different than most other schools.

What's so special about early August? Well, for most of our country's incoming freshmen, August is the final countdown before they move into their dorm rooms, make lots of friends at orientation, and register for classes.

Not the case for incoming Carls, though.

Because we're on the trimester system, our New Student Week doesn't begin until early September, often weeks after other schools' orientations. Some consider this a great virtue: more time to pack!  Others consider it a pain: more time to freak out! Either way, we hope that our Class of 2015 is excited to move onto campus. They'll be here before we know it!
