5 Classic Stress Relievers
You know when your back tightens up, your shoulders have knots, you’re on your second grilled cheese of the day, and you’ve been up so long on coffee and cappuccino and mochas that you feel like a jittery zombie who may never sleep again all the while you’re at a standstill on the 13th page of your second 15 page midterm paper? Okay, maybe you don’t (and be happy if you don’t); however, I’ve definitely been there due to the most polished talent in my skill set-procrastination. The only way for me to release the all over stress and pressure is to get up from my seat on 3rd Libe or upper Sayles to stretch, groove, and sing it out. Usually I like to listen to my Ultimate Christmas Classics or Country’s Finest or Chill playlists while doing work but sometimes it just gets to the point where you need to mix it up and move. The following 5 songs and videos are my suggestions for doing just that.
Because it’s a fabulous 80s dance movie everyone should watch once (well, kind of) and you’ll understand the significance of Kevin Bacon when you get to Carleton. I’ve also always secretly wished that this kind of dancing would magically emerge at a Sayles dance-it would be epic.
I love this dance song and the hairdos in the video make it all that much better. It gets the blood flowing and makes for a nice torso stretch too.
It’s just a must. Whitney belts it out and you can’t help but squirm in your seat, dying to just dance!
I became very interested in music of the ‘60s after watching the TV show, American Dreams. This song was featured in season 2 but was sung by Kelly Rowland. I prefer the original version by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.
5. Like A Prayer-Madonna (Glee version for fun)
Again, you’ll understand the tradition of this song upon the midnight hour of your first Sayles dance. You’ll never forget it once you’ve experienced it and in the future, it will make you think of all the ridiculous fun you and your friends have had.
