Carleton College

Ready, Freddy?

It's hard to believe that the first Early Decision deadline is just one month away.  Unlike some other colleges, we've made a conscious decision to keep our application deadlines a little bit later into the senior year.  We know that most smart decisions take time and reflection, and there's no need for us to rush you to decide whether you want to apply Early Decision.  ED is a binding agreement, meaning that if we offer you admission, you're agreeing to withdraw your applications to other schools -- and we know that's a big deal for you.  But, if Carleton is your first choice, we strongly encourage you to apply ED.  It sends a signal to the admissions committee that you've done careful research and are sure that Carleton's your top college pick... which is always helpful for us to know as we review applications.

Sometimes, families are concerned about the implications of ED on applying for financial aid.  You should rest assured that every student who applies for financial aid is given the same consideration, whether he applies as an ED or Regular Decision candidate.  Our financial aid estimator is a good starting point for learning more about what your family's financial aid package might look like.  And, if you ever have questions about affording Carleton, we want to help.  Leave a message here or give us a call at 800-995-CARL, and let us know how we can hep.

    Claire

Hi! I am from Taiwan and will be applying for ED. I really enjoy reading these blogs.  They really offer an insight on Carleton to students who can't visit. : )
