Application

Applying to Carleton is your opportunity to help us get to know you better -- personally as well as academically. Beyond your studies, what activities do you enjoy? How would you describe yourself? What are your plans for the future? Be creative and let your personality shine through.

The Carleton application is the Common Application with a Supplement. The application is available online; we will waive the $30 application fee for those applying online. This is a popular application method, with more than 80 percent of applicants now using online submission.

The Application and Supplement are available as a downloadable PDF on this site or at www.commonapp.org. We encourage students to complete a Part 1 Application short form which will take just a few minutes, and submit it either in paper form or electronically. You may also begin your application by filling out the Common Application directly.

When you are ready, complete and submit the Common Application and the Supplement; these two forms will take a little more time since they require short essay answers, a longer essay, and more detail on your activities and interests. Whether you complete both the Common Application and Supplement online or print a copy and submit them by mail, you should do so by the appropriate deadline, but no later than January 15th.

There are numerous other general online application venues where the Common Application is available and may be used to apply to Carleton. These include the College Board, the Princeton Review, and Peterson's.
