Q: Did you visit Carleton before applying?
A: I visited on a COLD day in mid-April my junior year. Throughout the tour I was thinking how cold and miserable it was, but when I got in the car to go back to the airport that day, I realized what a great place I had visited.

Q: What's been your experience with roommates?
A: I started off in a triple and have continued to live with one of my roommates for three years. The third night at college my new roommates decided to duct tape me to my bed, and while that seems strange, I really enjoy their humor and their general goofiness. I haven't regretted living with anyone.

Q: What other schools did you seriously consider?
A: I applied Early Decision, so Carleton was the only school I considered seriously. If I didn't get in, I would have considered Kalamazoo, Colby, and Claremont McKenna.

Q: Which Carleton classes have been your favorites? Why?
A: Special Relativity (PHYS 151). While the title seems intimidating, the concepts and ideas presented in the class were so interesting, I still enjoy talking to people about the class.

Q: What surprised you about Carleton?
A: How quirky people are. People are always thinking of interesting things to do and it's just great to be part of it.
-
Q: Any advice for high school students on their college search?
A: Make a list about what you're interested in, and keep adding things you are fascinated by until you can't think of anything more. If your list seems long, look at Liberal Arts schools.

A: My mom's friend who is currently a translator attended Carleton, and because I had an interest in translation I decided to visit, and absolutely loved it! It also offered the opportunity to accomplish my dream of playing baseball at the collegiate level.
