French and Francophone Studies
This interdisciplinary program draws on history, art history, anthropology, political science, literature, and media studies. It is designed for students interested in the French-speaking cultures of Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia. After acquiring a solid grounding in the French language, students study topics such as French cultural theory and issues of identity, social change, nationalism, and gender.
