Off Campus Studies
(website)Have you ever wanted to sketch on a beach in Australia, see a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-on-Avon, or study conservation at a wildlife preserve in Tanzania? At Carleton, these dreams (and many others) become a reality through more than 20 off-campus studies programs, led by faculty members in palces such aschina, France, Guatemala, and Ireland.
Additional options include winter break study trips linked to on-campus courses, and programs offered by other schools and organizations. Financial aid can be applied to any off-campus program, and Carleton doesn't charge administrative fees or additional tuition, even for non-Carleton programs. Many off-campus credits can be applied to major requirements, and students often incorporate their experiences into senior capstone projects, independent studies, and more.

Colin MacArthur '12 says:I've been on two Carleton off-campus study programs. I studied German in Berlin fall of sophomore year, and cross-cultural psychology in Prague fall of junior year. By far the most memorable experience was climbing a peak in the high Tatras of Slovakia with my psychology program compatriots. The views were spectacular and despite hiking for 6-8 hours straight, my fellows were extremely cheerful.
