Accepted Student Days

Congratulations on your acceptance to Carleton College!

Accepted Student Days are designed to help you experience life as a Carl.  You'll choose your own schedule once you arrive on campus: we encourage you to sit in on a class or two, chat with our students and profs, and explore what our great small town has to offer.  You'll choose your classes and most activities once you arrive on campus, but you must register in advance of your arrival for the welcome dinner, overnight stay with student hosts, and the airport shuttle service.  Our ASD weekends are identical and it's only necessary to attend one; if you can't make either one, you can arrange a visit when it's convenient for you.

Ready to register? We can't wait to see you April 9-11 or April 16-18.

Some details to help you prepare for your trip to campus:

Guests

Your family is welcome at Accepted Student Days. There are many activities planned for family members, including campus tours, a panel featuring current Carleton parents, a financial aid session, and open houses in offices across campus (see schedule for more details).

Getting Here

Many students will fly into MSP, a major international airport just under an hour from campus.  You (and your family) can sign up for one of our shuttles to and from Terminal 1 (the Lindbergh Terminal) at MSP.  The shuttle costs $10 in cash per rider, each way.

Shuttles depart from the airport on the following dates and times, arriving at Carleton approximately one hour later:

  • ASD Thursdays – 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • ASD Fridays – 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Shuttles depart from Carleton on the following dates and times, arriving at the airport approximately one hour later:

  • ASD Fridays – 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • ASD Saturdays – 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Welcome Dinner

This is a great chance to chat with future classmates, meet professors and enjoy some distinctly Carleton entertainment.  Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m., with seating beginning at 5:30 p.m. Seating is assigned and casual attire is appropriate.  The dinner will include vegan, vegetarian, and made without gluten options.

Overnight Stays

An overnight with a current Carl is perhaps the most vital part of Accepted Student Days. Your assigned host will be able to show you the ropes and you’ll get a glimpse at the life of a Carl.  You can choose to stay overnight on campus on Thursday and/or Friday nights; we encourage you to stay both nights to get a more comprehensive experience.  Host matching will take place following the Welcome Dinner on Thursday, and on Friday at 4:00 p.m. for students arriving on Friday.  We suggest bringing a sleeping bag, towel, change of clothes, toiletries, and a sense of adventure!  Families are invited to investigate options at local hotels.

All set?

Once you have submitted your registration, you will receive an automatic e-mail summary of your request. After your request has been reviewed and processed, you will receive a second e-mail confirmation with further information. Please call the Admissions Office at 1-800-995-CARL (2275) if you need to make any changes to your registration or have any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!
