August 26-29, 2004
Thursday, August 26
4 p.m. Registration at Westerbeke Ranch, 2300 Grove Street, Sonoma, CA.
Reception and Social Time and Introductions
Dinner at Westerbeke Ranch with introductions
Evening Talk about the Wine History of Sonoma and do a wine tasting with local winery.
Friday, August 27
Breakfast
Day trip to Ft. Ross and Pt. Reyes – We will begin the day with a discussion of the history of these places before our departure. There is a possibility that we will be joined by Naturalist/Author David Rains Wallace to lead our hike at these locations.
Evening We will return to Westerbeke Ranch for our evening meal and an evening activity.
Saturday, August 28
Breakfast
The Day will include a tour of Sonoma Mission, Sonoma Barracks and Mariano Vallejo’s home in Sonoma. The day will continue with a drive to Glen Ellen/Jack London State Park and an outdoor lunch where we will have a discussion of the London novel on the grounds of Beauty Ranch and then visit the museum and the burnt ruins of Wolf House. There will be free time for those who wish to hike for a couple of hours in the afternoon before we return to Westerbeke.
Evening We will return to Westerbeke Ranch for our evening meal and an evening activity.
Sunday, August 29
We will gather on Sunday morning for a wrap-up discussion of the weekend and brunch before departing for our homes.
