Baja: Among the Great Whales
Join professor Gary Wagenbach to observe gray whales in Baja California’s sheltered lagoons, one of North America's premier whale watching sites. Having migrated from their arctic feeding grounds to breed and rear young, Baja’s gray whales represent one of the largest migrations of any mammal.
Whale Watching
Seeing the whales in their natural habitat is one of the great delights of this voyage. During our days in the breeding lagoons of Bahia Magdalena, we venture among them in Zodiac inflatable boats, giving us the rare privilege of a water-level perspective. Friendly encounters with the whales are common.
Sea of Cortez
Our voyage also offers naturalist-guided walks on uninhabited desert islands, and swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking adventures in the Sea of Cortez. The itinerary remains flexible so we can be present for wildlife sightings. Whales, dolphins, sea lions, blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds, huge barrel cacti, mangroves, and sand dunes are among the natural wonders you'll experience on this trip.
Accommodations
Cruise aboard the M.V. Sea Bird, which can reach places inaccessible to larger ships, yet comfortably accommodate 62 guests in 37 outside cabins. This ship is often compared to a large private yacht.
