Dinosaurs and the Wild West

  • Note: This alumni adventure is closed.

  • July 19th through 22nd, 2007
  • Registration deadline: June 19th, 2007
  • Capacity: 35
  • Cost: $250.00 (plus airfare and hotel)

Spend a weekend with history professor Bob Bonner and geology and environmental studies professor Ed Buchwald journeying from prehistoric time through the fossilized history of dinosaurs and the more recent history of the American West. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to share a vacation they could relive for a lifetime.

DINOSAURS

We will join paleo-technicians on an active dinosaur dig—and may even find a dinosaur bone! We will also visit the Wyoming Dinosaur Center, which includes 12,000 square feet of exhibition area and displays fossils and life forms from earliest geologic time periods through the present. The central hall houses dozens of full-size mounted skeletons, including more than 20 dinosaurs.

THE WILD WEST

A day trip to Cody will feature visits to such western art museums as the Buffalo Bill Museum, the Whitney Gallery of Western Art, the Plains Indian Museum, the Cody Firearms Museum, and the Draper Museum of Natural History (visit www.bbhc.org/museums). Our guide, Professor Bonner, will engage us in the life and times of the West.
