Enjoy a weekend in the Berkshires with professor emeritus of English Frank Morral. Learn about the lives of people who have lived in the area, and enjoy evening theater performances at the Shakespeare Theater. (Please note above the new date for this adventure.)
VENUE
The Berkshires region is a cultural mecca of world class museums, historic sites, art, theater, dance, and music venues—more than 60 countywide. Our visit will include venues in the Stockbridge, Pittsfield, and Lenox area that also offers outstanding golfing, hiking, backpacking, biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, and kayaking for those who wish to extend their visit.ACTIVITIES
Our weekend will begin on Thursday evening with a group dinner at the Historic Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge. The remainder of the weekend will feature tours of the homes of Herman Melville and Edith Wharton, plus an afternoon tour of Hancock Shaker Village followed by a Shaker Supper and entertainment. The group will attend productions at Shakespeare & Company (Othello and All’s Well That Ends Well) and the weekend will draw to a close with a picnic and concert at Tanglewood on Saturday evening.

FACULTY
Frank Morral, the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of English, emeritus, joined the Carleton English Department in 1964. Morral taught courses about Shakespeare’s works, and directed a production of The Winter’s Tale for the Carleton Players. He is a veteran leader of alumni theater trips.
COST
$400 includes lectures by Morral, museum entry, local transportation, theater tickets, and several meals.
