THE JOURNEY

Join Carleton Economics Professor Michael Hemesath and St. Olaf Religion Professor Elizabeth Galbraith on this once-in-a-lifetime journey combining a performance of the legendary 2010 Passion Play in Oberammergau with a delightful cruise through the heart of Europe. Cruise in style and comfort along the Danube River through the fabled realms of the Habsburg Empire. Visit a timeless world where Gothic cathedrals soar above medieval cities and rivers wind through lush forests and vineyards. Visit Budapest (Hungary), Bratislava (Slovakia), Vienna (Austria) and Melk (Austria). Our journey culminates with two nights in Oberammergau where you'll attend the 2010 Passion Play, a revered tradition that dates to 1633. More than 2,000 participants enact this fascinating rendition of the story of Jesus Christ on the large, open-air stage of the Passion Play Theatre. Staged every 10 years, this incredible performance incorporates magnificent costumes, scenery and orchestral accompaniment to create a memorable spectacle. A full program of excursions, cultural enhancements and specially arranged access to the 2010 Oberammergau Passion Play, including tickets, transfers to and from the hotel, and traditional Bavarian lunch and dinner, are included with this customized itinerary.
