  • Registration deadline: December 28th, 2008
  • Capacity: 30

Carleton College invites you to join Linda Rossi, professor of art, and William Edwards ’56 on a four-day winter adventure to Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Snow Lodge.

THE PARK

Winter is a breathtaking time to visit Yellowstone National Park. We’ll travel by snow coach from Mammoth Hot Spring Hotel to Old Faithful Snow Lodge. Carleton art professor Linda Rossi will bring us closer to nature through photography, teaching us how to capture natural beauty with our cameras. Alumni expert Bill Edwards ’56 will share the challenges of wilderness management in the Yellowstone Basin. There will be many opportunities to enjoy winter in Yellowstone while you snowshoe, ski, snowmobile or just relax in the Snow Lodge during this winter season.

ACTIVITIES

The adventure begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, February 25 as the group departures from Mammoth Hot Springs for Snow Lodge. This trip will last about 4 hours and will give you an opportunity to see the park venues in the winter. After the arrival at Snow Lodge the afternoon will be free time to allow you to get settled and check out the many opportunities that are available. Reservations are required for most activities listed below. We encourage you to reserve activities well in advance of your arrival by calling toll-free 866-GEYSERLAND (866-439-7375). Some of these are:

  • Ice Skating – skate rentals are free
  • Massage Therapy – must be scheduled in advance
  • Guided Snowmobile Tours – must be scheduled in advance
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross Country Skiing

You can get more information about these activities by looking at the website at

ITINERARY

We will have until 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, to take part in numerous discussions and outings with both Professor Rossi and Bill Edwards. Then at 2 p.m. the snow coaches depart to take the group back to Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. A farewell dinner will be planned after our arrival. This is a time to talk about the weekend, ask final questions and even share your photography from the time spent in the park.
