Reunion Highlights for the Class of 1960
This preliminary schedule shows ’60 and major all-class reunion activities, in hopes you will find many things of interest. There will be much more, and details about these activities, in the final program.
Throughout the weekend, look for our roving reporter, John Zimbrick, who will be interviewing classmates individually or in groups about life experiences after Carleton – watch the videos on a computer monitor in Cassat Hall.
THURSDAY, JUNE 17
Carleton Open Golf Outing
Registration opens at 3 p.m. at Cassat Hall.
Pick up your copy of Do You Remember? A Carleton Class of 1960 Chronology, start to browse the display about our lives during and after Carleton, and meet and greet old and new friends.
Please bring memorabilia of our time at Carleton and/or from our life after Carleton, for display in the class lounge.
4 – 6 p.m. Informally catch up with old friends and meet new ones, or choose to Engage and Reflect in small discussion groups right in Cassat Hall, on one of these topics:
· Turning points in our lives: has there been a time in your life when you made a choice to do something new -- something that challenged and stretched you beyond your previous experience or social/cultural/religious boundaries? How did it impact you? (Abby Cole Dawkins)
· Continuing to engage with the College through the identification and support of rewarding and challenging internships for students (Gwen Colescott Mullen) and mentoring students planning careers in science, medicine, teaching, or other career tracks (Marian Peterson Neutra and John Hamilton)
· Book discussion – Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural , by Ronald C. White Jr., in which Lincoln offers a moral framework for peace and reconciliation (Don Hunt)
An informal social hour and dinner follows.

Presentation by John Harris ’85, journalist, author and creator of Politico.com
Class of 60 - “Current issues in Bioethics: Some talking points and open discussion,” facilitator: David H. Smith, ’61, husband of Marie-Louise Arnaud Smith. Topics may include, but need not be limited to: research on human subjects; new technologies for reproduction such as egg donation and surrogacy; genetic screening and enhancement; neuroethics; care for the demented and dying; and justice in health care.
Social hour and class dinner with open mike: “My Current Passion” or “A Magic Moment”, with MC: Fred Whiting

Class Memorial Gathering in the Japanese Garden, led by Marian Longacre McCart

'C' Club Hall of Fame luncheon
Class of ’60 panel discussion, “Energy Sources and Resources for Our Future: Can We Have Our Planet and Heat It Too?” with panelists Ben Brabson, Boyce Burdick, & John Zimbrick. Non-political, non-ideological information about electrical energy production today and in the future
“The Middle East: Ancient and Not So Ancient”, presentation by President Robert Oden
Alumni Choir rehearsal (family members & friends welcome)
Class of 1960 reception with President Robert Oden and wife Teresa Oden at historic Nutting House, followed by a gala dinner, and for dessert, a pastiche of music and humor, including the debut of the 1960 Keynotes/Overtones/Knights and Friends, topped with a sing-along of favorites from the late '50s.
After dinner, we’ve invited all classes to join us at our big band music dance party in Severance Great Hall.
SUNDAY, JUNE 20
6:30 a.m. – To clear the head and energize the heart, take a brisk walk starting along the road behind Evans field! Meet in Cassat lounge.
Alumni Remembrance Chapel Service with the Alumni Choir, followed by a Sweet Good-byes reception
Check-out at noon (last airport shuttle departs at 1 pm)
