Melissa’s Choice

Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 7:00 p.m.

The Lion Theatre
410 W. 42nd Street
New York, NY 10036

You are cordially invited to an evening of theatre with talk-back.

Melissa's Choice, a new play by Steven Somkin ’63, about a lawyer who is passionate about women’s rights, the environment, population control, and two men. An unintended pregnancy produces increasingly bizarre, often comic, fantasies that compel her to confront a tangle of competing values and feelings. The play is set at a campsite in the Oregon woods where a goatish cowboy and a Black forest ranger (a single mother of two) become Melissa’s unlikely guides in discovering with which man she belongs, one of whom wants her to have an abortion, the other not.

A representative of a national women's rights organization will be invited to participate with the author in the talk-back following the performance.

Current and prospective students are welcome.
