Please join Carleton alums, parents, and friends for a program on Energy, Climate, and Sustainability. There will be a potluck dinner before the talk.

Gary Wagenbach, Winifred and Atherton Bean Professor of Biology, Science, Technology, and Society, Emeritus, will update us on Carleton’s approach to addressing energy issues, as well as its environmental studies program, Environmental Advisory Committee, the President’s Climate Commitment, and campus “sustainability” efforts. Gary taught biology and environmental studies at Carleton for 39 years. He is a leader in off-campus studies, directing ecology-oriented programs in Bermuda, California, New Zealand, Australia, and Tanzania. His on-campus courses included biology of invertebrates, parasitism and symbiosis, and courses in the Environment and Technology Studies program. He also recently directed Carleton’s concentration in Environment and Technology Studies until retiring in 2008. His research interests include water quality issues and threatened species of freshwater mussels.

Directions to 294 Torrey Pines Terrace

I-5 to Del Mar Heights Rd and go west. Turn left on Nob, the first street before you reach old 101 (Camino Del Mar). Nob ends at Ocean View. Go right on Ocean View and stay to the right until you reach Torrey Pines Terrace, where you turn left. 294 is at the end of the road up a long driveway. NOTE: Ocean View winds up and down. Make sure you do not turn left on Pine Needles or Hidden Pines; go further to Torrey Pines Terrace.
