Played on defense in football as a “roving center” and was one of the team’s leading tacklers
Coached and taught at Menomonee, Mich,; Red Wing, Minn.; and Fargo, N.D.
Served as principal of Agassiz Junior High in North Dakota for 33 years
Represented retired teachers and senior citizens as a lobbyist for 22 years in the North Dakota Legislature, and continued his service after moving back to Minnesota in 1986
Named a Remarkable Person by the Minnesota Council on Aging in 1993
