Charles Jennings

Class of 1962: Cross Country and Track & Field

For Charles Jennings, a three-year letterwinner in cross country and track, athletics at Carleton "was a great pleasure and a welcome diversion from studies." The "highlight" of his career came as a senior when he won the Midwest Conference Championship in the mile and in the two-mile. He formerly held the Carleton record in the mile, and as a senior placed in the mile at the prestigious Central College Championships, which included athletes from all divisions. He also placed in many national and regional AAU meets.

Dr. Jennings, now an orthopedic surgeon, still enjoys running. His other outdoor interests are biking, back packing, skiing and wind surfing. He and his wife, Gerry, are the parents of four grown children: Ellen, Michael, Peter, and Andrew.
