Class of 1960: Track & Field

As a member of the Carleton track team, John Hamilton set high marks and exhibited high levels of leadership. At the time of his induction, Hamilton was the co-holder of the 110-yard high hurdle school record, held the 220-yard low hurdle record and was also a part of the record holding mile relay team. In 1960, Hamilton was nationally ranked in his specialty, the 220-yard hurdles.

Besides being an outstanding individual contributor to the team, Hamilton also devoted himself to leadership. Co-captain in 1959 and captain in 1960, he was also presented the prestigious John M. Millen Memorial Track Award twice, in 1959 and 1960.
