Football and Track & Field
Len Crowley stands out as one of the few Carleton Knights to play professional football, but his record also shows a long string of achievements in both football and track. Crowley was a letter winner in football as a wide receiver and defensive back; he held the school record for single season receptions. He was votes All Midwestern Conference in 1969 for his outstanding performance on the field. After graduating, Crowley signed and played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Besides his ample contributions to football, Crowley was a standout letterman for the Knight track team. He won a total of six individual and relay titles in the Midwestern Conference, earning the title of Indoor conference champion twice in the 60-yard dash and once in the 100-yard dash. Crowley held a school record in the 60-yard dash (6.3 seconds) and was a member of the school record-holding 440 yard and 880-yard relay teams. In 1970 Crowley was awarded the John M. Millen Memorial Track Award for his fine accomplishments.
