With the current economic crisis dominating the news, you’ve no doubt heard that this is probably the worst job market in decades for graduating seniors. In response to these trying times, alumni serving on Carleton’s new (November 2008) Careers Board are working with alumni affairs, the web services team, and the career center to spearhead an online system of support for the class.
We urge the Carleton alumni community to mobilize around this effort.
In the next few weeks, all members of the class of 2009 will have the opportunity to craft a very short profile that speaks to their interests, hopes and ideas for their post-Carleton life, outlines current career interests/goals, and shares a spirit of flexibility in these uncertain times. In about two weeks you will receive another email, outlining a number of specific ways you can help our graduating seniors, some conventional, others not so traditional. The heart of the program: connecting Carleton students with our greater Carleton community and seeing what connections and opportunities can arise.
Thanks very much, and stay tuned,
