Tell Betty
Tell Betty started in the Fall of 1999 as Talk Dirty to Betty, a collaborative project co-written by Kim Walstad '02 and Laura Humphrey '02. This first incarnation ran as a weekly print column for three years in The Carl. After graduation, Kim and Laura, now great friends and both based in the New York City area, launched the web-based incarnation of Betty in Spring 2006.
In Kim and Laura's words:
Tell Betty is an advice forum for men and women, straight and gay, all stripes and colors, virgins and triple digiters, and everyone in between. A walk through your neighborhood bookstore would have you thinking that (1) all women are straight and (2) everything they know about sex fits neatly into a nauseatingly bright, pink-covered book. Surprisingly, all men are also straight and their complex sexual desires start and end with glossies of wannabe Carmen Electras. Mainstream media does a super job of teaching two different languages. Tell Betty is about working as best we can to get together on the same page and, eventually, into the same bed.
