Why Should I Join OAC?

There are many reasons to be a part of the Out After Carleton community. Here are just a few:

  • Strength in numbers - Having a strong LGBTQA network provides clout to ensure that the College is always responsive to the needs of current and former students, as well as staff, faculty, and families.
  • Your presence is sufficient - If you are not available for volunteer opportunities, having you as a member of OAC remains vitally important!
  • Participation is flexible - You can limit the types and frequency of communications you receive from OAC, specify your preferred contact method(s) and areas of volunteer interest, and designate to what degree - or even whether - your name and contact information can be made available to other OAC participants through the OAC directory.
  • Support for current students - One of the desires of current LGBTQ students on campus is for real-world advice from alumni, and as a member you can choose whether or not you are available for students to contact you.
  • Keep in touch - Friends want to know where you are and what you're up to!
  • Stay up-to-date - Want to know how the climate is on campus? Want to know what the student groups are doing? OAC is the perfect way to help you accomplish all of this.
  • Networking - whether within your career field or not, having contacts around the world is always valuable.
