Construction updates
Look under the "General Info and Reminders" link from the main reunion page for up-to-date information about any local and area construction and detours.
Save on Airfare
Carleton has selected Northwest Airlines as the official carrier for Reunion. If you travel to Minneapolis/St. Paul between dates in June (from a week before to a week after reunion), you may be eligible to receive an additional 5 percent off the lowest applicable fare.
For the lowest fares available from your departure city on Northwest (as well as special discounts on rental cars) call Northwest at 800-225-2525 or visit www.nwa.com. Identify yourself as attending the Carleton College Reunion and/or reference our Meeting Agreement/Worldfile code NM2VJ when booking your reservation. When booking online choose "Yes" under E-Cert in the Additional Search Options when begin your flight search.
Airport shuttle service
Chartered motorcoach shuttle service is available for $50 round trip ($25 one-way), between the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (main Lindbergh Terminal) and Carleton. Please note that some airlines (Midwest, AirTran, Sun Country) now arrive at the smaller Humphrey Terminal; check your ticket carefully or check with your airline. If you know you are flying into the Humphrey Terminal, please be sure to let us know before June 1 so we can make special arrangements.
Reservations: You can sign up for the shuttle as part of your Reunion registration, or sign up later once you know your travel plans. Just download the airport shuttle reservation form, found in the upper right hand corner of this page, and return it to the Alumni Affairs Office.
Schedule: Shuttles are scheduled on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. If no one has registered in advance for a particular shuttle time, a shuttle will not be provided. Please note that children’s car seats are not available. Remember to allow one hour for travel time between Carleton and the airport.
On arrival at the airport, proceed to the lower baggage claim level and check in at the Carleton information booth near baggage claim #6 (look for signs and the maize and blue balloons). The airport booth will be set up approximately 30-60 minutes before the first shuttle is scheduled to depart. Carleton student greeters will assist you. If you haven't pre-registered for a shuttle they can let you know if there's space available.
Coming by train or bus?
EcoTrans of Northfield advertises that they provide transportation from and to the St. Paul and Red Wing AmTrak stations and the Minneapolis/St. Paul bus stations, in addition to the airport. Call 507-664-3859 to make a reservation (required) or visit www.goecotrans.com for more information. One-way cost is $70.
There is no longer direct commercial bus service to Northfield. Northfield Transit offers service to the Jefferson Lines Bus Depot located at the Big Steer Travel Center (I-35 at the Northfield exit, approx. 7 miles from town). The transit bus will meet one northbound and one southbound Jefferson Lines bus daily, Monday through Friday. Advance reservations are required 24 hours prior to service and can be made by phone. Pick-ups and drop-offs will be made curbside within Northfield. The fare is $4 per one-way trip. For Jefferson Lines information and tickets, call 888-864-2832 or visit www.jeffersonlines.com
Missed your shuttle?
If you miss your shuttle, the airport shuttle coordinators will assign you to the next one if space is available. If you miss the last shuttle of the day, your options include taking a taxi (approximately $75 one way), contacting Ecotrans (see above) to see if they have space, or renting a car. As you make your plans, please allow for possible delays. Some years, delays have been caused by thunderstorms in Minneapolis or Chicago. Because of fixed costs, we cannot issue refunds for unused shuttle reservations.
Parking
Parking on campus is limited. Cars may be parked overnight on Northfield streets. On-campus shuttle service will be provided all weekend between Watson Hall and Sayles-Hill, and for special events for the 50th and senior reunion classes.
When you arrive
Registration hours: 3-10 p.m. Thursday; 8 am to 10 pm Friday; 8 am to 5 pm Saturday.
