Outfielder Hayden Tsutsui was named to the 2013 D3baseball.com All-Midwest Region First Team and picked up distinction as the region’s Rookie-of-the-Year. He joins Wheaton College (Ill.) pitcher Michael Kaufman as the only rookies voted as first-teamers across the eight regions.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the 2013 inductees for the Division III Track & Field Athlete Hall of Fame. Carleton alum Dale Kramer ’78 is one of this year’s inductees for his outstanding career as a Knight.

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Ruth Steinke (Fy./Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) trimmed eight seconds off her personal best and won the steeplechase, and Colette Celichowski (So./Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka) broke the school record in the 1500-meter run at the UW-La Crosse Qualifier, a “last chance” meet held at the site of this year’s NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Marcus Huderle (Jr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) posted a winning mark of 9:32.77 in the 3000-meter steeplechase but was unable to improve his season-best time during the NCAA Qualifier “last chance” meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Three-time All-American, Erik Klontz (Sr./Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), for the second straight year. The award honors the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance in competition and in the classroom.

In conjunction with Carleton’s annual Honors Convocation, the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (P.E.A.R.) Department announced its annual senior awards. Sophie Pilhofer and Jessa Youso received the Pat Lamb Award. Megan Morrison and Sarah Nielsen are the recipients of the Ele Hansen Award. CJ Dale was honored with the Mel Taube Award, while Erik Klontz was given the Warren L. Beson Memorial Award.
