The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the 2013 inductees for the Division III Track & Field Athlete Hall of Fame. Carleton alum Dale Kramer ’78 is one of this year’s inductees for his outstanding career as a Knight.

Knights Seventh in GPA, Earn Another USTFCCCA All-Academic Award

The Carleton College men’s cross country team posted a 3.51 cumulative grade-point average for the 2012 fall term, the seventh-best figure in the nation, and is one of 141 programs across the country recognized as an All-Academic team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Season Ends with 12th-Place Finish at Regionals

The season came to a close on Saturday for the Carleton College men’s cross country team as the Knights finished 12th out of 27 teams competing at the NCAA Central Region Championships. Marcus Huderle led the Knights, placing 46th individually with a time of 26:48.4.

The Carleton College men’s cross country team placed six racers in the top 50, including all-conference performer Marcus Huderle, en route to a sixth-place finish in the team competition at the MIAC Championships contested at Como Park.

This Saturday, the men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in the MIAC Championships. Both races will be held at the Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn. The men will begin at 2:15 p.m., and the women will follow one hour later at 3:15 p.m.

Marcus Huderle placed fifth overall—trailing only a quartet of NCAA Division I racers—as the Carleton College men’s cross country team finished second at the Tim Young Invitational hosted by the University of South Dakota.

Cunningham, First-Years Pace Knights at Griak Invitational

After battling illness last week, Guthrie Cunningham helped guide the Carleton College men’s cross country team to an 11th-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. That is the Knights best team finish at this event since 2007.

Knights Fourth at St. Olaf Invitational, Second at ACM Championships

Marcus Huderle posted his second straight top-10 finish as he placed sixth overall to propel the Carleton College men’s cross country team to a fourth-place result at the 21-team St. Olaf Invitational. The Knights placed five runners among the top 50 in a pool of nearly 300 competitors representing 21 teams.

In conjunction with Carleton’s annual Honors Convocation, the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (P.E.A.R.) Department announced its annual senior awards on Friday. Simone Childs-Walker, Kathryn Schmidt, and Abby Wills received the Pat Lamb Award. Niki Tomita and Dana Mackey are the recipients of the Ele Hansen Award. Kian Flynn was honored with the Mel Taube Award, while Ryan Cammarota and Alex Wirta were given the Warren L. Beson Memorial Award.
