Knights Earn Academic All-Conference

The MIAC has announced its list of academic all-conference honorees for winter and spring sports, with 21 Carleton student-athletes earning distinction. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Additionally, student-athletes in basketball, baseball, softball and tennis must compete in half of their team’s contests, while those in swimming & diving and track & field must qualify for the conference finals.

Six Knights Named to All-MIAC Squad

Senior Kartheek Koneru earned All-MIAC honors in singles and doubles for the fourth consecutive year for the Carleton College men's tennis team. He was also selected as the Knights’ representative on the conference’s All-Sportsmanship team. A total of four singles players and the top three doubles combinations earned the all-conference award for Carleton, giving the squad the most honorees in the MIAC

Knights Finish Second at MIAC Playoffs

The Carleton College men’s tennis team held off Bethel University, 5-2, in semifinals of the MIAC Tennis Playoffs on Saturday afternoon. The Knights then fell to sixth-ranked Gustavus, 5-0, in the conference tournament title match. The loss left the Knights (21-4) needing an at-large bid to continue their season in the NCAA Championships. Stephan Zweifel, head of the Carleton program, was named the MIAC’s Coach of the Year. Knights Finish Regular Season in Style

The Carleton College men’s tennis team closed the regular season with a 9-0 victory over cross-town foe, St. Olaf College. The Knights, ranked No 28 in the most recent ITA poll, will carry a lot of momentum into this weekend’s MIAC Championships as they have recorded four consecutive shutouts. Carleton finishes the regular season 20-3, 8-1 in conference-play.

The Carleton College men’s tennis team swept a Sunday doubleheader of sorts, posting 9-0 victories over both Hamline University and Concordia College. The wins assured that the Knights—listed at No. 28 in the latest ITA national rankings—will finish second in the MIAC regular season standings for the fifth consecutive year. Carleton will also have the No. 2 seed for next weekend’s MIAC tournament.

The Carleton College men’s tennis team, ranked No. 8 in the central region and No. 28 nationally, suffered its third defeat of the year, each of which has come at the hands of a national top-20 opponent. The Knights were blanked, 9-0, on Saturday by Gustavus Adolphus, the top squad in the region and No. 5 in the latest national rankings. Senior Brendan Cooper came closest to winning a point for Carleton, winning the third set before dropping a third-set tiebreaker.

Nasty Weather Postpones Macalester Match

High winds, cold temperatures and the threat of precipitation forced the postponement of this evening’s men’s tennis matches at Macalester College. The contest is now scheduled to take place on Mon., April 14 at 7 p.m. The Knights, ranked No. 28 in the nation, will now be on the court three consecutive days as they travel to No. 5 Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday and Saint John’s University for matches on Sunday.

The Carleton College men's tennis team posted a pair of 8-1 victories over Iowa Conference opponents on Saturday. The Knights began the day with a triumph over host Central College and later knocked off national No. 25 Coe College. In both matches, No. 28 Carleton swept all six singles contests after posting wins in two of three doubles matches.

The Carleton College men’s tennis team (13-2) was rewarded for its solid play against top competition this season by being listed No. 28 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national poll. This marks a return for Carleton to the national rankings, where the Knights concluded the 2006-07 campaign at No. 31 after compiling a 20-3 mark.
