Quartet Lands on All-MIAC List

Four members of the Carleton College men’s tennis team earned All-MIAC honors for the 2013 season, following a second-place finish in both the regular season and conference playoffs. Seniors Paul Cooper and Alex Chin were selected for their play in both singles and doubles, while classmate Austin Jiang and rookie Christian Nagy picked up the honor for doubles.

After a dramatic comeback 5-4 victory over University of St. Thomas during the semifinal round, the Carleton College men’s tennis team did not have enough magic left and saw its season come to an end with an 8-1 loss to national No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus College in the finals of the MIAC Playoffs.

Paul Cooper Picks Up MIAC Weekly Award

The Carleton men's tennis team won a trio of conference matches last week to put a strong finish on a great regular season. Thanks to the three MIAC wins, the Knights locked up a second-place finish and a first-round bye in the 2013 MIAC Men's Tennis Playoffs. Paul Cooper led the way, winning all three of his singles matches and going 2-1 as part of the Knights' top doubles tandem, while filling his role as a senior captain admirably. For his performance, Cooper was named the MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete-of-the-Week.

Knights Beat St. Thomas to Claim First-Round Bye in Playoffs

The Carleton College men’s tennis team closed the regular season with a 7-2 triumph over the University of St. Thomas in a matchup of regionally-ranked squads. The victory locked up the No. 2 seed and the coveted first-round bye for the upcoming MIAC Playoffs. This is the 11th consecutive season that the Knights have posted a top-2 finish in the conference standings.
