The Carleton volleyball team improved to 4-1 in the MIAC (7-7 overall) following a sweep at Hamline University. The Knights hit .367 as a team in recording a 25-18, 25-15 and 25-21 victory. Annie Eckhoff led the way with 11 kills and a .476 attack percentage. Megan La Chapelle added nine kills and 12 digs.

Knights Overcome Slow Start to Handle Wildcats

After a slow start, the Carleton volleyball team rallied for a 3-1 victory at the College of St. Catherine, moving the Knights into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings. Individual game scores were 12-25, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-20. Megan La Chapelle recorded 24 digs and tied with Kelly Lovett for the team lead with 10 kills.

Knights Fall to No. 7 St. Thomas

The Carleton volleyball team absorbed its first conference loss of the year and concluded a brief homestand, falling 3-1 to the Univeristy of St. Thomas, the seventh ranked team in the nation. Megan La Chapelle had 13 kills to lead the Knights and added 17 digs.

Knights Return Home and Post Victory

It had been nearly a month since the Carleton volleyball team (5-6, 2-0 MIAC) played a home match, and the Knights took care of business as they maintained a share of the top spot in the conference by sweeping Augsburg College, 3-0, on Wednesday. Kelly Lovett hit .455 on the night, collecting a match-high 11 kills to go along with five digs and three assists.

Jaynes Sets Carleton Coching Record in Win

Heidi Luehmann Jaynes established a program record as she picked up her 143rd career coaching victory in Carleton College's 3-1 triumph over Macalester in the conference opener for both teams. Seniors Megan La Chapelle and Sarah Kunelius led the way with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Carleton defeated the Scots for the fifth time in their last seven meetings.

Knights Swept by North Dakota and Gustavus

The Carleton College volleyball team (3-6) dropped a pair of non-traditional matches on Saturday. The Knights were swept in straight sets by the University of North Dakota, a Division I program, before falling to MIAC rival Gustavus Adolphus in a non-conference matchup.

The Carleton College volleyball was swept by Northwestern College on Wednesday night, 3-0. As a team the Knights (3-4) committed 25 hitting errors and were forced to play from behind almost the entire match, falling by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-11.

The Carleton College volleyball team posted a win and a loss in its second day of action at the Emory Classic in Atlanta. The Knights defeated Clark Atlanta University, a NCAA Division II team, 3-0 before falling to host school No. 3 Emory University by the same score. Annie Eckhoff was selected to the seven-player All-Tournament Team.

A challenging weekend of action for the Carleton volleyball team began with a pair of losses on the opening day of the Emory Classic in Atlanta. The Knights’ opening match was a five-set loss to No. 18 Haverford College followed by a three-set sweep at the hands of Southwestern University (Texas).

Carleton picked up its second victory in as many days, defeating Martin Luther 25-16, 25-17 and 26-24. Senior Megan La Chapelle had a solid all-around match, contributing seven kills, seven digs and two blocks. After taking the first two sets, the Knights trailed 24-22 in the third before tallying the final four points of the match.

The Carleton Knights began their 2008 season with a quick 3-0 victory over Crown College at the St. Olaf Invitational. Junior Annie Eckhoff and sophomore Kyla Walter led the way with eight kills apiece. Scores of the individual games were 25-9, 25-14 and 25-12.

Season Preview: Knights Look to Build Upon Last Season's Success

In 2008, the Carleton College volleyball team hopes teamwork can help them repeat the success they found last year. A year ago, the Knights went 19-6 overall, (7-4 MIAC) and tied for fourth in the MIAC. They were nationally ranked, rising as high as 18th in the AVCA Division III Top 25, and earned an at large bid to the NCAA Championships, the program's third appearance overall in the national tournament.
