Senior &lt;strong&gt;Alison Smyth&lt;/strong&gt; placed 37th overall—missing All-America honors by just two spots—as the Carleton College women’s cross country squad tied for eighth place in the team competition at the 2011 NCAA Championships. Overall the Knights placed four racers among the top 100 finishers in a field of 277 runners and posted their best finish at nationals since 1991.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

The Carleton Women's Cross Country squad likes to pack up when they run. At the 2011 MIAC Championships, they followed the same philosophy, except this time they extended it all the way across the finish line as a trio of Knights—seniors &lt;strong&gt;Simone Childs-Walker&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;Alison Smyth&lt;/strong&gt; and junior &lt;strong&gt;Rachael Klehm&lt;/strong&gt;—finished 1-2-3 to spark Carleton to its fifth conference crown. The Knights, ranked No. 23 in the latest USTFCCCA poll, placed five runners in the top 20 and earned the team title, besting cross-town rival No. 11 St. Olaf College.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Knights Split-Squads Finish 10th and 16th</title>
<description>&lt;p&gt;The Carleton College women's cross country team ran in split-squad fashion on Saturday. The portion of the team that ran at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational finished 10th in the team competition, with senior &lt;strong&gt;Simone Childs-Walker&lt;/strong&gt; first over the line for the Knights, placing fifth out of the total 395 runners as she finished the six-kilometer distance in 22:04.57. The rest of the group competed at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational. This unit, comprised primarily of underclassman, finished 16th among the 23 teams as the Knights were paced by &lt;strong&gt;Lindsay Turchan&lt;/strong&gt; (Fy/Neenah, Wis./Neenah).&lt;/p&gt;</description>
