<title>Knights Compete at Point Loma Invitational</title>
<description>&lt;p&gt;On a beautiful day with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, several members of the Carleton College women’s track and field team participated in the annual Point Loma Nazarene University Track and Field Invitational. Nearly 300 athletes from 16 schools all across the country competed at the meet.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Katherine Wingert&lt;/strong&gt; was dominant in the winning the 800-meter run, and &lt;strong&gt;Irene Koplinka-Loehr&lt;/strong&gt; (So./Ithaca, N.Y.) won the 3000-meter steeplechase. &lt;strong&gt;Brasil Perez-Lukes&lt;/strong&gt; had a very busy day with top 10 finishes in five events.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

She finished with 4,170 points, only eight behind the fifth-place finisher. Christian’s best events were a second-place finish in the 200 dash and third-place result in both the 100 hurdles and long jump.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;p&gt;Senior &lt;strong&gt;Heather Hoecker&lt;/strong&gt; was the Knights’ lone individual winner at the 2008 MIAC Indoor Championships, prevailing in the 5000-meter run in 18:24.25 on Friday. On Saturday, Carleton’s distance runners performed well again, and the Knights finished sixth in the team competition with 51.5 points. St. Thomas ran away from the pack for its 21st indoor title.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

Carleton finished third at last year’s conference meet and will lean on its distance and middle-distance runners to remain among the top teams at this year’s championships. Twice in competitions this winter the Knights swept the distance events. The weekend kicks off with the MIAC Pentathalon on Thursday and Friday, followed by the regular meet on Friday and Saturday.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

In the 1000-meter race, &lt;strong&gt;Heather Hoecker&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;Lauren Milne&lt;/strong&gt; both set new personal standards in finishing first and second respectively.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
