<title>Knights Break Two Track Records at Pre-National Meet</title>
<description>&lt;p&gt;Competing at the site of the upcoming NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Carleton College women’s track and field team established a pair of track records at the Darren Young Classic. &lt;strong&gt;Clare Franco&lt;/strong&gt; won the 400-meter dash in a record time of 58.96, and the Knights distance medley relay prevailed with a winning time of 12:28.18.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Smyth Runs Away with MIAC Track &amp;amp; Field Athlete-of-the-Week Distinction</title>
<description>&lt;p&gt;Last Friday, Carleton College women’s track &amp;amp; field hosted its annual &quot;Meet of the Hearts&quot; and that seemed to be a fitting title, with senior distance runner &lt;strong&gt;Alison Smyth&lt;/strong&gt; (Billings, Mont./West) showing plenty of heart in a standout performance. Smyth finished first in the women's mile with a time that helped her leap towards the top of the MIAC performance list and into the Top 25 nationally as well. For her performance, Smyth has been named the MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

The Carleton College women’s track and field team did not send its full squad to the meet, and those that were entered, competed against a field comprised mostly of Division I and Division II student-athletes. <description>&lt;p&gt;The Carleton College women’s track and field team opened the 2012 schedule at the St. Olaf Triangular. The Knights started the campaign with several strong performances, including &lt;strong&gt;Haley Johnson&lt;/strong&gt; catching a St. Olaf runner down the homestretch to win the 600-meter dash for a half-second victory at 1:41.06.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

A philosophy major with a 3.99 grade-point average, she is the 17th Carleton student-athlete recognized as an Academic All-American by CoSIDA and the third garner a spot on the national first team.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Kelly Lovett Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship</title>

Kelly Lovett ’11&lt;/strong&gt; recently graduated from Carleton College and had already added national champion to her résumé this spring. The three-time All-American picked up another honor as she was awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She is one of 58 scholarship winners nationwide to receive the $7,500 award, with 29 female and 29 male student-athletes from a spring sport each securing a grant for post-graduate studies. Lovett won the javelin at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships and owned a 3.80 grade-point average as a political science major.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
