<description>Three members of the Carleton College men’s soccer team were named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team for their performance on the soccer field and in the classroom. Ross Hamilton was voted to the first team, while Robert Carlton and Tim Wills were second-team seelctions. For the second year in a row, the Knights had the most players honored in the MIAC.</description>

<description>The Carleton College men’s soccer team (15-4) posted a 3-0 victory over visiting University of St. Thomas (10-7-2) in the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs. Senior Ross Hamilton converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 25th minute. Tim Wills then assisted on second-half insurance goals by Wes Elfman and Ryan Cammarota. The Knights will host Macalester College this Saturday at 1 p.m. with the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on the line.</description>

<description>After a stellar performance against Hamline, Tyler Palin earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week. Palin was the Knights leading receiver and set career-highs in receptions (10) and receiving yards (124). He kept the chains moving all day long as five of his catches earned the Knights a first down. His 31-yard reception was also the longest passing play of the day.</description>

<title>Women's Soccer: Shootout Success! Knights Advance to Finals</title>
<description>For the third time in four seasons, the Carleton College women’s soccer team locked up with Concordia College in the MIAC Playoffs and just like in 2006, the score was tied 1-1 sending the contest into a shootout. This time, however, the Knights took care of business, winning in a shootout, 3-1. Carleton will play at Macalester College on Saturday, Nov. 7 with a bid to the NCAA tournament on the line.</description>

This is the third straight week that the Knights have advanced at least one spot in the poll. Last week the Knights took care of both Saint Catherine University (3-1) and St. Olaf College (2-1). The win over St. Olaf clinched the Knight’s second consecutive MIAC playoff berth.</description>

<description>The Carleton College swimming and diving teams kicked off the 2009-10 swim season by hosting the Carleton/St. Olaf relays. The meet featured nontraditional events with the primary goal of providing opportunities for multiple swims by team members in each event. The entry fee for the nine-school meet was one non-perishable food item per student-athlete. This year an estimated 150 pounds of food were donated to the local Northfield Community Action Food Shelf.</description>
