CHICAGO, Ill.-- Carleton College came in 13th in the latest power rankings for Division III institutions and tied for 27th for all divisions by the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA). Each year, NCSA assess the academic and athletic accomplishments of all universities and colleges across the country.  Carleton is the highest-ranked Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference institution in this year's rankings, and is the only MIAC school ranked among the Division III top 25.

The NCSA measures strength of the athletic department based on the institution's finish in the previous year's Director's Cup. In calculating academic excellence, the NCSA uses the US News and World Report rating and graduation rates.

Last year, Carleton was 20th in the Division III power rankings, but moved up this year due to finishing significantly better in all four standings used to calculate placement.
