ST. PAUL, Minn. – First-year runner Noah Laack-Veeder (Madison, Wis./LaFollette) continued his outstanding rookie campaign with a highlight performance at last weekend’s Carleton Relays. He won the men's 800-meter dash against a terrific field and helped the 4x400-meter relay team finish third. For his performance, Laack-Veeder has been named the MIAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
In Saturday's 800-meter dash, Laack-Veeder used a time of 1:53.89 to finish first in a field that featured four of the top six performances in the MIAC this season. He was stride-for-stride with Hamline star Jack Deichert in the final 100 meters and pulled out the thrilling victory. He also helped the 4x400 team finish with Carleton's fastest in the event in three years. Laack-Veeder is currently third on the MIAC top times list in the 800 with his season best of 1:53.58, which came on April 5, also on his home track.
Laack-Veeder and the Knights have a busy weekend ahead. The squad will have some members compete at the Macalester Twilight meet on Thursday. Carleton could send athletes to the star-studded Drake Relays, held over the weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. Additionally Saturday’s Saint Mary’s Open is also on the schedule.
