Chesley Leads Knights at Bobby Krig Invitational

Final Results

LE SUEUR, Minn. – Brian Chesley (Jr./Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) improved his score over each round of the 54-hole Bobby Krig Invitational, leading the Carleton College men’s golf team with a 26-over par 238. After firing an opening round tally of 83, Chesley carded a 79 and 76 on Monday as the two-day tournament concluded with 36 holes of golf at Le Sueur Country Club.

Host No. 19 Gustavus Adolphus College won the event with an 866, followed closely by No. 11 Saint John’s University at 871. By carding a 976, Carleton finished 14th out of 16 squads

Like Chesley, Jorde Ranum (Fy./Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) also posted better scores with each subsequent round, going from 87 to 81 before finishing with a 78. Both Chesley and Ranum recorded their best scores of the 2011-12 season during Monday’s final round.

Evan Osborne (Jr./Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) made his debut this season and paced the Knights on day one with a 79 at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn.

Ted Harrington (Jr./Frisco, Texas/Justin Wakeland) matched Chesley’s 79 for tops on the squad in round two. Turner Wadington (Sr./St. Charles, Ill./Elgin Academy) was the other Knight golfer to play all 54 holes.

Carleton will return to the course on Sunday, May 6, to face crosstown rival St. Olaf in the battle for the "Rusty Putter." The dual match will be held at the Northfield Golf Club and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
