NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Carleton College infielder and pitcher Chelsea Yost (Jr./Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award honors the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Yost, a math major with a 3.93 GPA, is one of three MIAC players and 11 total athletes to earn a spot on the team for the NCAA Division III’s District 6, encompassing schools in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
This award comes after an impressive season on the diamond for Yost. She posted a .365 batting average along with team highs in with three home runs and 18 RBI. In addition to her accomplishments at the plate, Yost was also a major contributor as a pitcher. She picked up three wins on the mound, including a two-hit shutout against Bethel on the final day of the season. Her 3.89 ERA ranked second on the pitching staff.
The Capital One Academic All-District team is part of the Capital One Academic All-America program, which annually honors over 1600 student-athletes who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director.
