Full MIAC Release

The winter-like temperatures certainly didn't impact Carleton's Colby Seyferth (Banks, Ore.) at Saturday's Norse Relays hosted by Luther (Iowa) College. The Knights' sophomore displayed his talent and versatility by winning the 400-meter hurdles, leading two relay teams to victory, and finishing second in the javelin. Two of his wins came in comeback fashion, and his 400-hurdle time is tops in the MIAC this spring. For his performance, Seyferth was named the MIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

Seyferth's top - and most exciting - performance of the day was his win in the 400-hurdles. He surged ahead in the home stretch to win by two-tenths of a second at the tape with a time of 56.38. That's the top MIAC time this year by more than a half-second. Seyferth also helped the 4x400-meter relay team (3:24.32) finish first as he anchored another come-from-behind win, and he helped the Sprint Medley Team (3:33.18) also earn a victory. His toss of 41.74 meters was good for a runner-up finish in the javelin. Carleton finished second out of eight teams.

The Knights are hoping Seyferth continues his great outdoor season this week in front of Carleton's hometown fans. The Knights are scheduled to host the Carleton Relays Friday at Laird Stadium. It is one of four meets left on the schedule between now and the 2013 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted by St. Thomas May 10-11 in St. Paul, Minn.
