The Carleton College Student-Athlete Advisory Council announced its Knights of the Week for Oct. 26-Nov.1. The recipients were the Women's Cross Country team and Tyler Palin.
Knight of the Week (Female):
Women’s Cross Country
The Women’s Cross Country team shocked disbelievers on Halloween as they ran to a MIAC Championship win. It was a gritty and spirited performance considering many of the Knights were battling sickness going into the event. In fact, Laura Roach (Sr./Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) had to persuade coach Donna Ricks that she could run. She made it count finishing in eighth place and receiving All-MIAC honors. With her near the front were Simone Childs-Walker (So./Seattle, Wash./Lakeside), Taylor Ffitch (So./Portland, Ore./St. Mary’s Academy), placing second and fifth respectively to capture All-MIAC honors. It was a team effort as the Knights scored 65 points, well ahead of second-place Bethel’s 91 points.
Knight of the Week (Male):
Tyler Palin
Palin (Jr./Mequon, Wis./University School) had a career best performance against Hamline on Halloween. Palin caught 10 passes for 124 yards and 5 first downs. His effort was enough to earn him a spot on D3football.com’s Team of the Week. Palin has the fifth most receptions (21) and yards (250) on the team.
