Men's Track and Field

The Carleton men's track and field team competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and at the Division III level. Track and field in the MIAC is very competitive, with a large number of athletes qualifying for the NCAA Championships each year. Men's track and field has been one of the most successful programs at Carleton, sporting three individual national titles and a staggering total of 66 All-American performances of the last 35 years.

Recently, the Knights have produced three All-Americans and several MIAC champions. In 2003, Matt Hooley '04 placed sixth in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Dan Bucy '05 placed sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and Steve Harris '06 finished third in the 5,000 meters at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships, with all three earning All-America honors.

Hooley '04 Wins Eugene Marathon, Qualifies for Olympic Trials Again

For the second time since graduating from Carleton in 2004, Matt Hooley has qualified for the United States Olympic Marathon Trials. On Sunday, May 3, Hooley fought through the rain to win the Eugene (Ore.) Marathon by nearly eight minutes.
