Men's Cross Country

The men's cross-country team has accrued an impressive record since its beginning as a club sport in the early 1930s, and it has been particularly formidable over the past two decades. Carleton harriers won every Midwest Conference championship from 1974 to 1982, placed in the top 10 at the national championships seven times during that span, and won a national title in 1980. The Knights qualified for nationals again from 1992 to 1996, winning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) crowns in 1994, 1995, and 2002. Carleton runners have earned 21 All-America citations, paced by four-time honoree Dale Kramer '78, who also captured two individual national titles. Most recently, Steve Harris '06 finished 10th at the 2005 national meet to earn All-America honors; Dan Bucy '05 earned All-America honors at the 2004 NCAA Championships, powering the Knights to an eighth-place finish at the national meet. In the last three seasons, Carleton cross-country runners have earned three prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships, a $7,500 grant for postgraduate work.
