The Carleton College football team finished the year on a high-note, posting a 13-6 victory over Hamline University on Saturday. The game was played in snowy conditions, putting an extra emphasis on defense and special teams. The Knights excelled in both areas, thanks in part to the efforts of senior defensive back Alex Polk and rookie punter Eric Williams. The duo picked up MIAC weekly honors as the conference’s Defensive and Special Teams Players-of-the-Week.

Quarterback Zach Creighton accounted for a pair of first-half touchdowns, and the defense made it stand up as the Carleton College football team closed the 2014 campaign with a 13-6 win in snowy conditions at Hamline University.

It was Senior Day at Laird Stadium and the Carleton College football team recognized the 10 seniors on the roster during a special pre-game ceremony. Unfortunately, the national No. 23-ranked University of St. Thomas squad crashed the party as the Tommies prevailed in a lop-sided affair.

Seeking its first win away from Laird Stadium this season, the Carleton College football team knocked on the door multiple times but never reached the end zone, getting only a second-quarter field goal by Brandt Davis in absorbing the loss at national No. 21-ranked Saint John’s University.

The Carleton College football team led twice during the fourth quarter but was unable to come up with a late-game stop, falling 17-13 to crosstown rival St. Olaf College. Knights quarterback Zach Creighton accumulated a game-high 104 yards on the ground, including a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
