NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Carleton wide receiver Chase Gottschalk (Sr./Independence, Minn./Orono) was recently named a Pre-Season All-American by USA Football Network. This is the 25th consecutive year that the USA Football Network announced pre-season awards. Gottschalk was recognized with a spot on the third team.
Gottschalk earned All-MIAC recognition last season, as he was tabbed to the all-conference second team. He paced the Knights’ offense in receptions (37), receiving yards (620), and yards per catch (16.8) for the 2012 season. He also ranked second in all-purpose yards. During MIAC games, Gottschalk ranked second in the conference with 549 receiving years—an average of 68.6 per game—with an average of 17.2 yards per catch., also second in the conference.
Gottschalk and his teammates open the 2013 season at Laird Stadium against Grinnell College on September 7. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
